点评:Conflicted about this review. This sanctuary is definitely not state of the art, completely run by volunteers and the facilities for the animals are showing their age. Don't go first thing at opening -- it was a cold night/morning and most of the animals were still huddled up in their nests trying to stay warm. They generally got more active as they woke up, so try around 11:30 or later. The animals are supposed to be rescues that can't be rehabbed or released due to their condition, so will live out their days at Suncoast, which made me sad. The cages are based on the size of the animal, so the orangutan has the biggest enclosure and it seemed roomy. Others seemed cramped, especially if your basis of comparison is a well-funded zoo. Lots of enrichment provided, toys, barrels, things to jump in and on and over, etc. Some even had their own security blankets, which the volunteers gathered up to launder before hosing out the cages. There were plaques telling about each animal's species, but I would have preferred information about each individual, their history, their age, sex, how they came to be there, etc. It would have made it more interesting. In general, I think the volunteers are doing their best for the animals in their care, but clearly need more funding to upgrade things.
