点评:My wife and I, traveling from New Jersey, included this stop in our Iowa itinerary, which also included birthplaces of John Wayne and Johnny Carson. We visited the house at opening time so we could do the Boone 1:30PM train ride. We've been to the Eisenhower Gettysburg home and their final resting place in Ike's hometown of Abilene, Kansas so it was natural that we stopped here. Our docent was very inciteful - peaking our interests as we toured. The history of the house is as fascinating as her life, as at one time the house was subdivided into three apartments. It was later used as a Sunday school before being obtained by the Boone preservation committee and moved across the street and completely renovated to its original form. The house and grounds were beautiful, and a surprise waited for us in the garage - two cars, one being her economy minded, bare-bones 1963 white Plymouth Valiant. The basement contains a mini museum of interesting artifacts and gifts.
