点评:Since we were flying through Phoenix back home to Florida, we decided to stay an extra day to visit this renowned garden. From the moment the Roadrunner ran across our path in the parking lot until we splurged and treated ourselves to souvenirs in the well stocked gift shop, our experience at Phoenix’s Desert Botanical Gardens was a magical, inspiring walk through beautifully laid out garden trails. Besides the all the plants, you never knew what critters you might see next. During our visit we saw a rabbit, several hummingbirds, lizards (maybe skinks) the roadrunner, songs birds and quails.
As members of the American Horticulture Society as well as our local Marie Selby Gardens, our entrance was free. We spent four hours roaming this beautifully laid out space marveling at how different it was from our own local flora and fauna. As avid plant lovers, we were in heaven. Everything was green since it was spring, with a blooming wildflower space full of butterflies close to the entrance. There was also a special butterfly house exhibit in another part of the garden that was wonderful. People of all ages and abilities can enjoy this space easily and there is a restaurant and snack bar to keep you hydrated and fueled during your visit. This garden is a true treasure, not just for Phoenix, but for all of us who are lucky enough to be able to visit.
