点评:The Grand Canyon and Saguaro National Park may be the two big draws to Arizona, but in my mind and those who are fascinated by astromomy, this is the top of the list.
The main attraction for anyone who wants to learn more about astronomy AND view stars, galaxies, nebula, the moon, etc. Is the NOP (Nighttime Observation Program). It is a paid event that takes place most evenings, weather permitting. This was our second time going fo this program and it is worth it. Be warned, the program is long (we were there for over 5 hours) and the drive is over an hour (from Tucson).
Go and see it for yourself and learn the history of the observatory, how to read a star map, observe celestial objects with binoculars, and use the some of same telescopes that the big-time astronomers use.
The people who guide the NOP are great: friendly, knowledgeable, and committed. They will tell you everything you need to know and help set you on your way to being an amateur astronomer.
If you love astronomy, book your ticket to Tucson, and reserve your space for the NOP.
