点评:Check-in with the Go City pass was quick and easy, with friendly staff to help you through it. Free lockers are available downstairs, which is very convenient, along with spacious restrooms. Tip: take a photo of the locker code you choose. Trust your gut. (Mine did not 'take' the code I put in, so I used the code I found my locker in, which still worked. Phew).
The museum itself is hard to describe, in a good way. It is a beautifully chaotic cabinet of curiosities. Nothing is labeled in the traditional sense, and collections are not organized by region or era, which was the explicit wish of Isabella Stewart Gardner herself. This makes for a completely unique visit. It was a bit busy, but because there's so much to see, you don't really notice it.
Every room feels different, the courtyard is stunning, and the entire experience is immersive and surprising. I visited the Museum of Fine Arts afterward, which is almost the opposite in layout and structure. Both are excellent, but this museum stands out for being so unapologetically strange and wonderful.
An absolute highlight. Plan for about an hour, or two, for a visit.
