老史德桥村博物馆的点评
点评：This is a very interesting, high quality, living history museum of an 1830s Massachusetts village. I think the quality of your visit highly depends on how many costumed staff members are there demonstrating things. Because in addition to the historic buildings (many of which are original buildings that they moved to Old Sturbridge), the highlight is in seeing people performing the crafts and explaining the history. Although they are dressed in period costumes, they don’t stay in character of the times. They explain things to you in a modern perspective. We went on a Saturday in mid-September and there were many staff members giving demonstrations. But I imagine that an off season day in the middle of the week might have fewer people, which wouldn’t be as interesting.
We spent about five hours, but you could easily spend longer. Definitely check out their daily schedule online or with the printed version that they give you when you arrive. It lists out the special demonstrations and talks that are scheduled for the day.
