点评:Waiʻanapanapa State Park’s famous black sand beach is undeniably lovely. The contrast of the dark volcanic sand with the bright blue water makes it a striking and memorable spot, and we really enjoyed spending time by the shoreline.
The water was beautiful, and it’s certainly a unique place to see at least once.
However, the beach itself is quite small, and the facilities are limited. With the number of visitors arriving throughout the day, it can feel crowded quickly, and there isn’t much space to spread out or explore beyond the main beach area.
The biggest drawback is the journey. The Road to Hana is extremely long, winding, and tiring, and in our experience, the beach didn’t fully justify the time and expense it took to get there. It felt very much like a “once you’ve done it, you won’t repeat it” kind of experience — enjoyable enough, but not something we’d go out of our way for again.
Overall, a beautiful spot with a unique landscape, but limited facilities and a long, demanding journey make it a 3‑star visit for us.
