点评:We used the Sapporo Subway system quite a bit when we visited Sapporo. It has not been updated for a while but trains were clean, comfortable and whenever we found a seat every time we took it in mid December. There are three lines and they all connect to Sapporo station and Odori station areas which are a short walk to each other. Many of the stations have shops, restaurants and convenience stores with Sapporo Station having the most. We found ourselves using the passageways underground to stay out of the cold and icy sidewalks during our visit to Sapporo.
It takes about 30 minutes to get from the airport to the city and we were able to buy a Kitaca Smart Card when we arrived at the airport. This card can be used on most (if not all) public transport systems in Japan and can easily be reloaded at most metro stations where they have recharge machines. Other public transit cards would likely work on this system as well but it should be noted that most places only accept cash for recharging. There is a small deposit on the card but you can also use a smart phone application to use the card to if that is easier. The transit system in Japan is very easy to navigate and we found many helpful staff in Sapporo when we needed help.
