点评:The Alamo is the most famous of five missions constructed by the Spanish in the 1700s. But while the Alamo is located downtown and is famous for the battle fought there and is maintained as a museum of that battle, the remaining four are on the outskirts of San Antonio and continue as active church communities today. These four are all within about four miles of each other. These largest, Mission San Jose, is where the NPS visitor’s center is located. Mission Concepcion is nearby and well-preserved. San Juan and Espada are little more than chapels. The weathering and decay at these sites - which were never intended to be permanent - itself creates a sort of beauty. It’s interesting history and well-worth visiting all sites, though you can visit just San Jose and have a good idea of the rest.
