Don't just hurry by but instead stop and take a look around this elegant belltower
Campanile of Trinity College的点评
点评:Pushing into the sky at 100 feet tall, this 1853 campanile made primarily from Portland limestone. And yes, it has bells. Something like 13 of them and the largest is a hefty 1300 lbs. And being that this is Trinity College, the bell tower carved reliefs representing the liberal arts include Home and Plato. And further up are sculptured figures symbolizing Law, Sicent, Medicine and Divinity. And if you want to--find four coats of arms. And if you look up, up up up---there on the very top is a weathervane in the shape of a ship. Why a ship and not perhaps a book? Well apparently the college has some connection to a maritime history and the nearby River Liffey. I wonder if these things about the campanile are required knowledge prior to graduation?
