点评：We spent a Saturday morning at LaVern M. Johnson Park, and it was nothing short of fantastic. The moment we stepped in, we felt immersed in nature — lush trees, red rock cliffs, and the peaceful sound of the river flowing nearby. It’s a perfect blend of natural beauty and family-friendly fun.
Our kids (ages 4 and 7) were completely in their element. The playground is imaginative and well-built, with fun climbing structures, slides, and ropes that felt adventurous but safe. They especially loved the rope bridges and the quirky fairytale-style towers.
What really stood out were the access points to the river. Some areas are shallow and calm enough for little ones to splash around safely with close adult supervision. We sat on smooth red rocks with our feet in the water, soaking up the sunshine and mountain air — pure Colorado magic.
We brought our own snacks and found plenty of shady spots to sit and relax. The bathrooms on site were clean and convenient, and parking was a breeze — just $3 per hour right next to the park.
This is one of the best hidden gems we’ve visited for a family day outdoors. If you’re anywhere near Lyons or Boulder, don’t miss it!
