点评:I don't see myself swimming in a 72-degree spring, regardless how hot our Florida sun. Brrr! But as part of the park's entrance fee, visitors have access to a riverboat ride down the Weeki Wachee River. The spring is the headwater for the river, of course.
The boat ride is approximately 20-25 minutes long. Our tour guide continually pointed out interesting flora and fauna along the route. And the captain slowed or stopped the boat repeatedly so passengers could take photos of turtles and egrets and herons and sheepshead . . . all manner of interesting critters. We didn't encounter any gators, though the guide told us he'd spotted a baby about 24 inches long in this area a few days prior.
We did encounter kayakers winding their way downriver. There's a kayak launching site a few hundred feet from the spring.
The water remains clear as crystal in the river, which is only about eight feet deep at its lowest point - while the spring itself is at least 400 feet deep. No one has discovered the bottom yet. The water is 99.8% pure; I'd drink it if someone bottled it.
