Highway Route 340的点评
点评：My husband and I decided to take the northern route from Lahaina to Paia without referencing a guidebook EVEN ONCE, and that was a bit of a mistake. Bear in mind the highway offers a simply gorgeous ride up along the northern coast. We stopped at the blowhole and continued to a beautiful overlook where we met two wonderful couples from England who had done this route a number of times. One of the couples had trekked to the mission near Julia’s banana bread many times, and told us the route to it was a bit scary but fine and that we’d be rewarded for the trip. They also warned us to turn around at this point because that’s when the road got dicey and the rental car insurance agreements became void.
Huh.
So off we drove to one of the scariest drives of my life (and this is from people who lived in Boston and Mexico City and had zero problems with driving). If - and a big if - you encounter NO ONE, the ride is stressful, but knowing you might encounter someone and need to back up or pullover on a curvy road abutting a cliff above and a cliff below gets the adrenaline taking off to new heights. We encountered a few cars, but luckily enough near infrequent passing pull offs and headed back to Paia the way most people wisely go.
Having said this, take 340 until the one lane road begins. The views are simply stunning. Also, after this drive, you’ll scoff at anyone who thinks the road to Hana is scary.
5 stars for exhilaration. 1 for terror.

话虽如此，还是建议沿着340号公路行驶，直到出现单行道为止。沿途的景色简直美得令人窒息。经历过这段旅程后，任何觉得哈纳之路很可怕的人都会被你嗤之以鼻了。兴奋度满分5星。恐怖程度1星。
