点评:After we took in the Senso-ji Temple and Asakusa Shrine, we were looking for a more serene place - Gallery Gei was perfect. Mind you, we made the mistake of heading over here on a Monday (when they are closed).
The gallery was on a short list of sites we wanted to visit in Asakusa, but I had failed to note that the gallery was closed on Mondays. We stood outside discussing our disappointment & decided to take a picture of the outside of the gallery anyway. We would put it on our list for next year's visit.
As luck would have it, the owner was outside working on something out in front of the gallery. He overheard our conversation and very kindly put down what he was doing and offered to give us a tour of what was still left of the exhibit. He was in the process of setting up for the next week's exhibit. We truly appreciated him taking time out of his busy day to show us around.
This gallery is certainly worth the short walk from the Shrine - it appears that the artists rotate regularly. It is a small venue & you will need to go up a flight of stairs. We will definitely be coming back next year (on a day they will be open).
