Great day trip from Piraeus
Aegina Waterfront的点评
点评：Our cruise ship had an extra day in Athens. Having seen Athens and Piraeus before, we opted to do a daytrip to the island of Aegina. We really enjoyed it.
Since the cruise ship was anchored in Piraeus, it was only a short taxi ride to the correct pier for the ferry to Aegina Island (there are numerous piers at Piraeus, fortunately our taxi driver knew the correct one for the ferry to Piraeus). The ferry ride took about an hour. It drops you off in the harbour for the town of Aegina, right by the waterfront; from here we took a rented car to explore the island. It was fun driving the narrow but quiet roads around the island, visiting the temple of Aphaia, etc.
However, we also spent some time along the waterfront at Aegina, and it is very nice. There are shops along the waterfront, also numerous restaurants with outdoor seating, and it's enjoyable to watch the various boats and the ferries entering and leaving the harbour while eating. If you walk a block or two back from the waterfront, you'll enter a much quieter and less touristy version of Aegina, also interesting to explore.
It's a great place for a day trip, and convenient if you are based in Piraeus.
