点评:Spectacular! We spent the day. In spite of a bit of rain, it was a delightful outing. Highlights include the Ticonderoga, a 220-feet-long steamboat that was transported overland 2 miles from Lake Champlain in the winter, when the ground was frozen. Quite a story. There are so many collections: antique quilts and needlepoint (a highlight for me), hand-carved circus animals, a print shop where you can see how hand-set type and linotype machines worked, antique furniture and toys and more. Don't miss the replica of her NYC home, which features Cassatts, Monets, Manets, and Degas. Another building houses Homer, Wyeth, Copley and Grandma Moses.
One description I had read in advance said (I paraphrase): Imagine a hoarder's collections - but by someone with good taste. That sums it up!
