点评:Attractive, informative museum that focuses on the fascinating story of railroading.
A full-size steam locomotive and caboose are on display, and visitors can walk through the engine cab and the waycar's interior. Access requires paying the museum admission fee.
Inside, lots of informative displays on railroad development, personnel, signaling, track work, etc, as well was freight a passenger service.
Several operating train layouts - many with push-button interactivity, are on display, including a large, impressive layout with an on-board video camera for a track-level view.
There's a nice gift shop, as well as a section with used model trains for sale to support the museum.
Be sure to take some photos outside, including of the neighboring railroad freight office building (which is now converted into a hotel, but with a preserved exterior).
During our visit, there were about 6 other visitors, both individuals and families. The museum is spacious for its size, so we had no issues with seeing what we wanted.
Depending on one's interest in the topic, an hour to 90 minutes is probably enough time for a detailed look at things, though one could spend even more time if every display is studied.
Be sure to check their website for days and times. There are a handful of parking spots right at the entrance. More parking nearby, but check to make sure it's a public spot.
