点评:We had a very upsetting experience while leaving Hersheypark this evening that unfortunately overshadowed what had otherwise been a wonderful two-day trip.
A Hersheypark traffic/tram employee named Denise spoke to our family in a very disrespectful and disparaging manner while we were crossing in a marked crosswalk in front of the trams. One member of our group has health issues and walks more slowly than others. We were all together in the crosswalk, including our 3-year-old nephew, and at no point were we dangerously close to the tram or creating a safety issue.
As we were crossing, Denise made comments such as “you could have walked faster” and “you could have made more of an effort to get across.” At first, all of us thought she was joking because of how unexpected and inappropriate the remarks were. When we tried to address the situation respectfully, she dismissed us by putting her hand up and telling us to “go away.” After one of us commented that perhaps she should not be working in guest services if she speaks to people that way, she responded, “maybe you shouldn’t be here.”
After the tram ride, my sister and I spoke with the tram driver about what happened. The driver acknowledged that we were not too close to the tram and stated that she would speak with Denise. We appreciate that response, but the interaction itself was extremely disappointing and disheartening, especially given health concerns of one of our group members and the fact that this occurred in front of a young child.
We truly enjoyed our visit overall, which is why this experience was so upsetting. We simply hope this matter is addressed so other guests are treated with more kindness, patience, and professionalism in the future.
