点评:Diamond Head requires preregistration. We registered on Friday for a visit the next Monday. The registration process was easy and non-intrusive, not requiring account creation or giving personal information. We had hiked Diamond Head 14 years ago, but we are now in our 70's. We walked to Diamond Head from Kuhio Beach Park. The walk was 75 minutes each way. At the Park, it was one hour up and 40 minutes down. We had good shoes, sunscreen, hats and lots of water. (There is a hydration station plus washrooms just inside the park.) Our admission time was 10 a.m. and it was hot. A good part of the hiking trail is on natural lava, with uneven surfaces, holes and ruts, so you must pay attention to where you are walking. Some parts are steep. Some sections of the path were very busy. Some parts are narrow. The scenery and views are amazing. There are several lookouts. We went into one of the old military observation posts - a tight squeeze. It is definitely a worth-while hike. At the peak, you need to take some photos.
