点评:CHEVREUSE….took RER B to St Remy Les Chevreuse…about 51 minutes…to the end of the line. The train runs every 15 mins so it is easy. Upon arrival at the station, to the left outside is a toilet. Cross the street pass the bus booths and to the left are fields and a bike path. Follow the bike path all the way down , past the la ferme Couberton. Continue on by the cows and field until eventually you see a small path (chemin) unmarked on the right side. Take this little path in and follow it to the 22 promenade des petits ponts. Walk along the path and eventually you will see a little path upwards on the right side and this will lead to the town center (village center)…from 2 to 4pm…everything is closed except the boulanger next to the Alchimist with their artisanal sirops and carrefour express. We went to the Alchimist and had a the lemon/bergamot for 4.80 euros with the l’eau petillante …if with tap water it is 3.80 euros. Jon had the orange with pepper timu flavor. The lady was very kind and will do any tasting for us. She let me try the lemon verveine and it was nice and chilled….yummy so I bought a bottle for 12 euros. They had some seating outside and the owner lady was very kind in letting us sit as long as we want. I went to the BOULANGER next to it and bought a baguette traditionnel and it was EXCELLENT…crunchy chewy crust but soft inside.
From the town center we walked up to the Chateau de Madeleine …follow the sign and up Rue jean Racine. The steps were very deep but manageable. Can’t go inside chateau but nice to look around and to be in the trails.
To come down, the shortest way is the same path but now downwards to the town by the Alchimist and Boulanger. By 4pm…everything is open …butchers, produce, and etc. wish I had a little more time to look around more but the bus was coming. You catch the BUS that goes to RER B (St Remy les Chevreuse) across the street from the Boulanger. There is no sign but you will see a bus schedule posted on the wall there. We used our Navigo and saved us all the walking past the pasture and cows which would have been nearly 35 to 40 minutes. So remember to take the bus back to the station and make sure it says ST. Remy Les Chevreuse on it.
