If you want to escape the crowded hustle of Strøget, do yourself a favor and take a stroll down Kompagnistræde in the Latin Quarter (Latinerkvarteret). It is a fantastic street packed with cozy cafés, small eateries, and wonderful artisan-owned clothing and handcrafted jewelry shops.
The absolute highlight of the street is Galeria Nini Ruelas, which has to be Copenhagen’s hyggeligste (coziest) gallery. It is located in the street's oldest building—about 300 years old—and features amazing, fresh contemporary artwork curated from talented Latin American artists like ROMGO, Fulgencio, and Susana Aviles.
The hosts, Teddy and Claus, are incredibly welcoming people who genuinely have the time to chat and share the fascinating stories behind the artists and their work.
If you happen to fall in love with a piece like we did, they make it incredibly easy to take home. They roll the canvas right there so it is effortless to carry on your flight. We bought an amazing ROMGO piece that is now framed and beautifully lighting up our living room.
