点评：For months I had walked by the Peabody Essex Museum but when I finally got a chance to check it out inside, I was astonished how massive it is! Don’t be fooled, the PEM doesn’t just have artifacts from early Salem history, there are galleries of Korean, Japanese, and South Asian imports. I loved the East India Marine Hall filled with maritime history, the classic American art, the selection of contemporary glass works, and of course the brief (but fascinating) section on the 1692 Salem Witch Trials. Not to mention a number of historic houses that the PEM owns around the town of Salem that you can tour, including the famous Ropes Mansion. Despite the size of Salem, I felt like the PEM had more to offer than some museums in major US cities. Admission is free if you’re a Salem resident (just provide ID at the ticket counter) but no matter where you’re from, the PEM is something to experience.
