点评:Definitely an eye opener! Our guide (Dave) was an officer there for over 20 years before it closed, so he met some of these prisoners in person and has some tales to tell… The cafe is well worth a visit too - fresh ‘home made’ soup on the menu was lovely, as were the scones I sampled - and all reasonably priced. Some great views across the bay and towards the replacement prison. After the tour, we were left to continue viewing on our own. And don’t miss the refurbished RNLI lifeboat in it’s purpose built home - we were informed you could only view it through the glass as it was closed at the moment - it wasn’t - and well worth a look. A good day out for all the family. ( Not sure why, but the form won’t let me add - I was on the guided tour with Dave - an ex officer who served over 20 years here, meeting some of the most notorious inmates in recent history).
