点评:Really disappointing to see how much this farm has gone downhill, especially now that they’re charging for entry.
It used to be free to visit and you’d happily spend money there buying animal food, drinks, ice creams etc. Now it costs around £16 for a mum and two children just to get through the gate with a couple of buckets of food, yet the facilities certainly don’t reflect that price.
The children’s “play area” was absolutely atrocious. It consisted of battered, tired-looking toddler equipment that I wouldn’t consider safe for children to play on. It is more like a toddlers scrap yard. The old van that used to operate as an ice cream/café serving point is now just sitting there in the play area looking abandoned and incredibly shabby.
More concerning was the condition of some of the animals and their enclosures. The peacock enclosure looked dirty and the peacocks themselves appeared very stressed. The duck pond was filthy, and the chicken enclosures were shockingly tiny.
I don’t mind paying an entrance fee to a farm at all if that money is clearly being reinvested into the animals, their welfare and decent facilities for visitors, but unfortunately that absolutely wasn’t the impression we came away with. Charging considerably more than before while allowing the place to look more run-down makes very little sense.
Such a shame, because it used to be a lovely, simple little place to visit.
