点评:On your way to the crashing waves of the crescent bay, over the ‘sea-polished beach pebbles’ that shift under your feet, you'll pass the iron remains of the Epine Fishing Trawler, a British ship that wrecked just east of Dritvik - sadly, meaning ‘excrement bay’ - in 1948. Tucked back in, further past the wreckage, you'll spot the freshwater Djúpalón lagoon, which you can also see through a skeleton keyhole rock formation on the trodden fisherman's footpath down to the coast.
The main beach is dotted with sea kelp, the ‘black lava pearls of Djúpalon’, and features iconic stone formations referred to as the elf rocks. Also located on the beach is a set of legendary lifting stones used to test a fisherman's strength, and you can test yours too!
This is one of our last roadside pull-off stops on our whole trip; it was cold and rainy, the smooth stones shifted so much under your feet that it was actually difficult to walk, and we had tons of epic pictures already that we could have passed it up. So glad we didn't; some of our very best Iceland shots are from this area, as there are several points of interest nearby, and all bring their own little bit of Icelandic mystique and lore!
