Poor organization, poor communication and chaos ruin what could be a poetic experience

点评：This could be a beautiful, poetic, scientifically valuable experience, but isn’t due to poor training, understaffing, and overselling among competing companies at the same spot. There was no place for awe or wonder or joy. Our guide—if you could hear him and get close enough—had real knowledge of bioluminescence, but you spend more time waiting in two muddy, pothole-ridden parking lots with nowhere to sit than on the lake. There’s no greeting, just “name?” and “you need to pay,” and instead of a briefing on the bus, instructions are shouted in the dark alongside other groups. The group was too large and unwieldy, with guides given too much responsibility at once, and a generally rude tone (everyone addressed as “guys!” though there are older people an a lot of women and girls in the group). Entering and exiting the water was chaotic, with groups from competing companies colliding in mud and darkness. The parking lot has young children running near vans and heavy equipment where kayaks were being loaded and unloaded. Our group of kayaks, each a double, included bros and teens and people who seemed to have had a fair among to drink more interested in crashing into each other than the experience. Poor organization, communication, and chaos ruined what could be memorable evening. The “secure” storage for phone and wallets advertised was a milk crate in an unlocked car; at the end, with no one around, we went up in the dark, opened the door and just took ours back and boarded the us - we could have taken any number of other people's valuables. The local government should regulate access to the bioluminescent late to improve the experience for visitors, companies, guides, and use better-run tours to protect this unique ecology.
