点评:If you are reasonably fit and the temperature is below about 22C, walk to the theatre at Segesta: you’ll see a dozen or so interesting archaeological sites that the bus bypasses. The climb from the entrance is quite challenging but both of us are in our seventies and we managed it (November).
And yes, you CAN get here by bus from Palermo. The un-numbered bus is run by the Tarantola-Cuffaro bus company, and it departs daily at 08:50 from outside Anita’s Bar on Via Paulo Balsamo. This road is right next to the Central Station and the bar is opposite the tram stop. The return ticket costs about €10, and the bus stops right outside the Archaeological Park entrance. The return bus leaves for Palermo at 15:15. The very existence of this bus seems to be a well-kept secret: perhaps to encourage visitors to buy an expensive tour.
When we visited Segesta, the site was dotted with sculptures by British pop artist Philip Colbert. We didn’t feel that they enhanced our experience but you may disagree.
