点评:Tuesday 13th January we were travelling along the GC200 in the direction of Mogan, on the southwestern coast of Gran Canaria when we stopped to visit this old windmill.
We parked up on the same side of the road as the windmill and walked down to visit. Across the road from the windmill there is a car park area which is is easier to get to when driving on that side of the road.
The Molino de Viento (Windmill) is also known as Molino Quemado (Burnt Mill). The original Windmill was built in 1893. The 19th century stone built building is now a heritage listed site and an open-air museum.
The museum, it's artifacts and displays showcase traditional milling traditions and local history.
Over time it has been through a number of restorations the most recent began in May 1998 when it was restored to it's former working condition.
The windmill was rather an impressive sight with it's whitewashed walls, it's four vanes intact, conical metal roof topped with what looked like a cockrel.
In the early part of 2026 this stone windmill was 133 years old with the status as an Asset of Cultural Interest
There is a €2 charge to enter, at the time of our visit there was a rope across the bottom of the steps leading to the entrance. There was a small bell nearby which needed to be rung to attract the attention of someone in Cafe to admit you to the windmill and museum.
We did not go in to either the Museum or the cafe, it was a brief stop to have a look at the windmill.
Across the road from the windmill was a car park area which is is easier to get to when driving on that side of the road. Here there were a number that had a a number of big old brewing vessels. We only saw this as we drove by so the photos are a quick snapshot as we passed, some of the vessels are visible.
