Disappointing Visit at Horton Vineyards

点评：We visited Horton in April 2026. We have been several times over the years and our last visit was in 2021. Winery was originally owned by Dennis Horton (one of the Pioneers of VA wine) and his wife. Dennis has passed and the winery is now run by his family. Over the years, we purchased and enjoyed many Horton wines.
While it is a beautiful location (neat "castle") and outside tables, the wines just aren't the same as they used to be. We did a tasting ($18.95) for six samples of our choosing. The samples are poured into little plastic cups and the server writes the name of each wine on a plastic sheet. You're given one wine glass to taste all of the samples. You use the same glass for reds and whites....so a blending of flavors is unavoidable. No dump bucket. There seemed to be a lot of items, other than wine, (candles, sauces, etc.) for sale on the former tasting counters at the winery. One server was cooking something and the other server was working the cash register/helping guests. You may taste inside or outside. It was chilly, so we stayed inside.
We didn't stay long or purchase any wines. Overall, we were disappointed with our experience.
