点评：Highland Links is semi-renowned as the first and arguably “only” true links course on the east coast - and one of the few in America.
It was built in the late 1700s making g it a first generation American golf course. It’s located near the tip of cape cod in the massive sand dunes that tower above the Atlantic Ocean in Truro.
The area is part of a historic preserve, with a visitors center and classic lighthouse that draws tourists. The clubhouse is tiny, but surprisingly well stocked with logo merch. I paid just $30 for a twilight round. Carts are available and are recommended due to the hikes up and down dunes if you walk. I walked and it was fine.
The course is fairly simple in layout and not maintained like a high end country club. Bunkers are shallow, areas of the fairway may be burnt BUT the natural setting is in line with true links golf and makes for a walk that feels as much like a hike through cape cod National seashore as much as a round of golf. It’s not really a UK-style links course. The greens are small and mostly flat, with very few bunkers. But the sandy soil, dunes and Oceanside location are all links hallmarks.
Highlights were the stunning views of the expansive Atlantic Ocean…visible on the 3rd, and particularly 5th, 6th and 7th holes. The 7th hole which is a par 3 in the shadow of the lighthouse was particularly memorable.
Just 9 holes, but alternate tees make some holes play very differently - so 18 doesn’t feel too repetitive.
Fun, unique course that is recommended for true golf course enthusiasts looking for a chance to play one of America’s few true links courses and take in some incredible sights at the same time. I’ll be back!
