点评:Visiting the Obelisk Tomb was one of the first moments in Petra where we realised just how layered and complex this ancient city really is. Located right at the entrance to the Siq, it’s easy to walk past in excitement for what lies ahead—but taking a moment here is well worth it.
The tomb stands out immediately thanks to its four pyramid-shaped obelisks carved high into the rock face, believed to represent the souls of the deceased. Beneath them sits the Triclinium, a ceremonial dining hall where rituals and offerings would have taken place. The contrast between the soaring obelisks and the functional space below is fascinating and offers an early insight into Nabataean beliefs and architecture.
What we loved most was how this site sets the tone for Petra. It’s less crowded than the major landmarks and allows you to appreciate the detail and craftsmanship up close without distraction. Standing here, just before entering the Siq, really felt like a quiet introduction to the city’s history before the drama of the Treasury unfolds.
Don’t rush past the Obelisk Tomb. It may not be Petra’s most famous monument, but it’s an important and atmospheric stop that adds real depth to the journey through this extraordinary ancient city.
