点评:Areopagus is a rocky hill adjacent to the Acropolis and is famous for being the location of the law courts in ancient Athens and is believed to be the site where St Paul offered his "Areopagus Sermon" to the residents of Athens which is recounted in Acts 17:16-34. Nowadays, it is a popular spot to hike up to as the views of the Acropolis are stunning especially late in the day when the Acropolis is glowing with the sun low in the sky and behind you. However, it was challenging to reach this viewpoint. First the most convenient entrance by a staircase along the lane Theorias after exiting the main entrance of the Acropolis is closed. I had to hunt for the access which requires finding a trail off the pedestrian street Apostolou Pavlou located to the west of Areopagus Hill. You then make the moderately strenuous climb to the top requiring some slight bouldering in order to get to a good vantage point. It is rocky terrain and anyone who is not comfortable with balance or heights should probably avoid. Not many tourists take the trouble to hike up to here and it wasn't overly busy. I mostly encountered small groups of young people sunbathing, taking selfies or just sitting amongst the rocks enjoying the relaxed atmosphere together.
