点评:First - remember that this is a National Park. Not a collection ground. It's meant for viewing and enjoying nature. The entire park is accessed with a single vehicle fee, you can enter at the North or South entrance, and then drive through to the other side. Along the way, there are numerous stops where you can park, go on foot, and see the amazing sights. For the real experience, you do need to get out and go look at the petrified wood close-up.
You can drive through in 30 minutes, or you can take your time and spend hours. I went during the winter, and generally it was not crowded, although there were other visitors.
There is a small visitor's center, and a gift shop / historical site near the North entrance. Other than that, it's all open land. There are few facilities between entrances, so plan accordingly.
The few staff with whom I met were all very friendly and nice; the guy at the North entrance - didn't get his name - was funny and had a great smile.
Again, this place is not for collecting. It's sad to see petrified logs with chunks missing from people illegally taking 'samples.' Please leave things intact for future generations.
