点评:My family and I have been visiting the National Museum of the Pacific War at least once -- and sometimes twice -- a year since 2010. This latest "grand renovation" has essentially destroyed what was once of the best military history museums in the world. Virtually every fascinating artifact has been removed and replaced with uninteresting and unimpressive and often inaccurate placards full of text. The recordings of actual WWII veterans recounting their real-life experiences are completely gone, with horribly acted and poorly scripted "interactive" videos. On our visit today, we observed every visitor hurrying past these supposedly "immersive" experiences, because they were cringeworthy...not enticing or entertaining. What was once a museum full of interactive experiences -- from the compelling soundtrack, to the videotaped interview of an Australian tank commander timed perfectly with the flash from the gun that destroyed his tank, to the landing craft entrance to Tarawa, complete with the sound of machine gun fire rattling off the sides, and so much more -- has been ruined, reduced to a dull, bland, boring and completely sterile succession of rooms. I do not expect we will ever visit again...and I'm sure we will no longer recommend the museum to family, friends, or visitors to Texas.
