Be moved, just outside Senghenydd
Senghenydd Memorial and Garden的点评
点评:I visit the memorial garden at least once year and never fail to be moved by it. The detail of the losses that mines around Wales, especially those of the Senghenydd mine on the site of which stands the garden, is frighteningly impressive.
The gardens are maintained largely (if not completely) by volunteers who give it a professional fittingly dignified appearance. This is a national monument and should be recognised as such.
It was sunny and clear today, and the colours of the heather, muted as they were, added so much to it. We listened to one of the clear testimonies and won't forget that in a hurry.
Well worth a visit. For more details, including how to reach it (and disgracefully it is not signposted) visit https://www.abervalleyheritage.co.uk/national-mining-disaster-memorial-garden-of-wales/ There is a small museum in the centre of Senghenydd run by the same enthusiastic group but it's best to check the Abervalleyheritage site to check that it's open.
