A great place for coffee, lunch and the opportunity to see a fabulous collection
Great North Museum: Hancock的点评
点评：I regularly go to the Hancock museum (Great North Museum), which is a fabulous smallish museum with an interesting and varied collection, in Newcastle upon Tyne. Recently, the curation of the museum has greatly improved, in my opinion, with small, but noticeable tweaks, and I thoroughly enjoyed my most recent visit. There were useful information boards that put the content more fully into context and elements of the exhibit were interactive in fun and interesting ways. Even more regularly, I visit the museum cafe, which is near my workplace, either for lunch or coffee. It is my absolute favourite coffee spot in Newcastle (although the Laing Art Gallery cafe is also very high on my list of favourites). The combination of museum or gallery with lunch/coffee is so hard to beat. And, my reason for writing this review is because I visit so often but, to my shame, have never left a review. So, I would particularly like to commend the staff at the Hancock museum cafe, who are always friendly and helpful and who deserve a lot of credit for being amazing on a daily basis. They make the cafe a lovely and welcoming place to go, accommodating my frequent gluten free checks (because you never know if suppliers have changed). If I have one suggestion for the museum management it would be to have a compliments system so that positive comments can be relayed immediately to the staff. People are always quick to complain, but sometimes need to be reminded to comment positively. Thank you very much to all the staff at the Hancock Museum (Great North Museum) for consistently great service even when you are super busy.
