点评:The new building would work well as a roller rink, but it doesn't work as a museum. There is a hundred yards of floor-to-ceiling windows that bring good light to the sculpture, mosaics and pottery, but the bright light bounces off of every glass case and every painting under glass, so you mostly see reflections, not the art. Since they can't show art next to the windows, there is only room for a sprinkling of objects with no apparent reason or context. It's mostly grade B and grade C art, with a few exceptions. There is the Diego Garcia masterpiece and a wonderful small room filled with Japanese art. Otherwise the excellent show in the Resnik Pavilion is really much much better art and a better museum. We have been members of LACMA for many years and I feel embarrassed that we help to fund this vanity project. One more thing, when we were eating outside with the comically expensive take-out from Erowhom, someone with an earsplittingly loud car drove back and forth, understanding that the museum, which goes over Wilshire, is a great amplifier, the better to annoy people.
