But there's another excellent option: Thursday or Friday evening. The museum stays open until 10 pm, making it possible to have a wonderful cultural evening rather than trying to squeeze the MFA into the middle of a busy sightseeing day.
For the best value, look at Third Thursday. From 5–10 pm, admission is $5 minimum, pay-what-you-wish. It's also much more than simply cheap admission—the museum adds activities, performances, art-making, food, and other evening programming.
