点评:While Rosecliff is as grand as and has a style similar to the Breakers and Marble House and other mansions I have toured, the visiting experience is quite different. While the other mansions were “closed” and largely preserved with furniture intact, Rosecliff had a series of owners, was renovated repeatedly, and its furnishings were sold. As a result the first floor is large but sparsely furnished, and the second floor has been converted into “wedding preparation space” for the events held here and a museum area with rotating exhibits (currently a USA 250th anniversary exhibit about Newport during the Revolutionary War). Having seen two other mansions already, I was getting “mansion fatigue” anyway, but Rosecliff was by far the least impressive of the houses I toured (and I only selected it because the Elms is currently closed).
