点评:On arrival, the lady at the kiosk was friendly and helpful and we did find all the staff polite and attentive. Personally, I felt the entrance fee was a lot considering we could only see a handful of rooms. Most of the inside of the castle was cordoned off. I was very disappointed that photos were not allowed. I think this rule spoilt our visit the most because it's very unusual to visit an historic building and not take photos. I understand that the castle is lived in by the current occupants and I understand the wish for privacy. But I did leave with the impression that visitors were only really tolerated because needs must and the owners have to pay the bills somehow. The bottom line is that we didn't get to walk around a castle. It didn't feel like a castle or look like a castle. It was just a few rooms, lots of ancestral portraits and after all this, we were abruptly herded through the gift shop on our way out.
On another note, it was a lovely day of sunny weather and this made the gardens a treat.
