If you’re going to New York for a few days, this is the things to avoid and things you should see

点评：If you wanna know the truth, this goddam trip will have you running home even if your parents are waiting to kill you. I stayed at the Edmont Hotel and let me tell you it made me depressed as hell. You may think the doorman is nice but he's a phoney and will offer you a prostitute for extra dough. He punched me for chrissake. The Lavender room is fine if you find some ladies to dance with but they wont give you drinks without a goddam id. I felt like I was taking a helluva lot of cabs just to go to some lousy bars. Ernie's is a bar in Greenwich village that I went to. Ernie is a terrific snob I swear but he's pretty good at piano.
I went in the winter and it was cold as hell. The lagoon in Central Park freezes and all the ducks disappear, you should've seen it. I really wanna know where they go. Anyway, I would go in the hotter weather because the cold really killed me. I was shivering like a bastard in Central Park. The good thing about Central Park is that at night there was no one there. New York is swarming with phoneys so even though I was lonely and freezing, it was peaceful as hell to be alone.
My favorite place I went to was the Museum of Natural History. I grew up going there with my teacher and it makes me happy to think about it. "The best thing, though, in that museum was that everything always stayed right where it was. Nobody'd move" (Salinger 65pdf). It was so goddam peaceful there I swear. The only problem is some morons write profound graffiti everywhere even in that peaceful museum, so be careful with the kids there. Anyway, New York is full of phonies and it's pretty crumby so I would skip it for your next trip.
