点评:A Wonderful Non-Wednesday Museum! The Metropolitan Museum of Art is well worth a visit, keeping in mind that you don't try to go on a Wednesday, the one day of the week the museum is closed. We had wandered by, surprised not to see any crowds out front or on the steps leading to the entrance, and then we figured out to return the next day - a Thursday. Upon our return, we were delighted by the many paintings at which we said, Oh! I know that one! A good handful of these paintings adorned college dorm room walls in poster form many decades ago. Anyhow, we waited about 20 minutes in the queue for tickets: $30 for adult admission. We expected the museum to feel uncomfortably crowded, but it truly wasn't bad. And the air conditioning was mostly excellent. We were able to walk up to every painting without a wait anywhere, even for the very well known artists. We made a stop at the cafe and enjoyed the vista of the central courtyard with statues. It's worth setting aside a whole morning or whole afternoon for the museum, maybe three plus hours. Each gallery has a theme, including one on ancient Egypt and one with Impressionists, both of which were crowded. This would be best for kids maybe fourth grade and up, particularly if they have read From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E Frankweiler, by E. L. Koningsburg. In fact, it's a MUST to go here, if kids have read the book, as I had done - the book was published in 1967. My favorite painting is the Klimt -an adorable young girl in springtime colors. I am so glad we went here.

L. Koningsburg所著《弗兰克韦勒太太的秘密档案》(From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E Frankweiler)的孩子。
