The Blue Ridge Mountains provided a beautiful landscape for a relaxing visit.

点评：Kaya Vineyards and Winery was one of the first and largest in the region offering fantastic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and 90 acres of plantings. Its tasting room offers purchase of preset flights of red, semi-sweet and mixed varieties of wine or bottles. The barmaid who waited on us was very knowledgeable about Kaya’s wines as well as other estate-grown grapes in the Dahlonega area. The views from this room as well as the covered pergola just added to the ambience of the visit. Differences in taste is based on the handling and infusion of fruits and herbs encountered in the fields.
While we were provided with tastings of more than several Kaya’s wines, we settled on two for our flight prior to bottle purchase. The Viognier is a full-bodied white with aromas of apricot and orange. It is a dry wine but maintains its strong fruity flavors. Our choice of red was Oola, a reserve cabernet Sauvignon which was the first wine made at Kaya. It was infused with raspberry and pomegranate with some chocolate and spice. Ultimately, we favored this wine over all others and purchased a couple bottles for imbibing at home. It marries well with most meats in addition to standing alone.
Our trip to Kaya Vineyards and Winery made for a very pleasant afternoon after spending the morning in the gold museum and perusing the antique shops & boutiques of Dahlonega. The day was made perfect with bright sunshine and low humidity. Thanks to Kaya for an exquisite time.
