点评:This is another example of a property that started out as a plantation, then later became a summer home for the rich and famous. What exists today isn’t the home that was part of the plantation years. The current house was built in 1936 after a fire destroyed the first home. Because the home was in the family until it became a museum, there are original furnishings, lots of photographs and personal belongings. The tour of the home took about an hour. The property is large and you have to walk to the main house for the tour, so be sure to allow enough time before the tour time to watch the short movie in the visitor center and walk to the home. There is ample parking lot and restrooms available. We came for the last tour of the day, so we didn’t have as much time as I would have liked to walk around the grounds and other buildings.
