点评：If you have an interest in Charleston's history, or in grand houses, the Nathaniel Russell House should be high on your list.
The home was built in the early 1800s and was designed to impress. Some describe it as being the prime example of showing off in society, but others characterize it as a kind of showing off by an unpopular merchant to the others in town. In either case, it is and was one of the most impressive homes in Charleston.
The exterior looks perfectly nice, but it's the interior that stands out, including an astonishing three-story spiral staircase. The house simply exudes elegance in every room.
It is easy to tour the house. You will want to take advantage of the recorded audio tour. It is extremely well done in a friendly way that explains the house without being stuck up.
They are still renovating parts of the house, but what has been done is spectacular. This is a great site to see if you are in Charleston.
