点评:Visited Thurs 5 Feb 26. What an absolute gem! One of only a handful of Liberty ships remaining in the world and still sea worthy, so can be seen from time to time out in San Francisco Bay - we need to have a return visit to do that ! The staff were so welcoming! Lovely ladies in the Doghouse for tickets. Very reasonable price to board and money to a worthy cause. Lots of volunteers onboard all busy with renovations and general maintenance work - great credit must go to them for keeping the ship “shipshape and Bristol fashion” as we say in UK. Very interesting to look around both inside and outside as much in way of original fixtures and fittings onboard. Self guided tour so you can go round at your own pace. My husband was invited by one of the engineers to go right down to the propeller shaft which made his day. The engine room was used for some scenes in Cameron’s Titanic. Had a fabulous time onboard. No negative comments from us!
Would just point out that visitors should be aware that you do need to be reasonably mobile - as it’s a working ship you will have to board by going up the sloping external gangway from the dockside and once onboard, negotiate raised door sills and ship’s ladders if you want to see above and below the main deck. (Sorry if that is stating the obvious if you’re a ship enthusiast).
We spent around 3 hours onboard and had an amazing time. Best wishes from us in UK to all the amazing volunteers on this wonderful ship. Hope to be back !
