点评:This was a must visit for me on our trip to Hawaii.I’d secured tickets 8 weeks out but we arrived too early with 2 hrs to spare.Thankfully, they have a stand by list to add your name to and we got on the first boat after lunch - it wasn’t full.I then cancelled our later tickets to open up the two spaces we’d booked.
We went on our own and didn’t use a tour which seems unnecessary to me given the set up at the site.
Each boat (a 5 min journey) can take around 150 people at a time - it’s all a much bigger operation than I thought re going out to the Memorial. Our boat was about two thirds full at most.
It was a moving visit, with the Navy Officer saluting the Memorial formally before we disembarked.
The ship can be most easily seen beneath the Memorial, via overhead drone footage - it wasn’t too easily visibly with the naked eye on the day we visited, apart from one gun mounting which sits above the water.
A beautifully built memorial and tragic to see the number of brothers who perished.A large proportion of the 2,400 men who died were from the USS Arizona.900 are now entombed on the sunken battleship on which they served.
Very helpful staff throughout the Pearl Harbour site which now has a beautifully tended, waterfront area.
