First of all, the setting is absolutely stunning. The zoo is built on a hill and spread across a large forested area 🌲⛰️, so it feels much more natural than a typical flat zoo layout. Walking through the snowy woodland paths made it feel almost like a winter hike rather than just a zoo visit 🤍. The views from higher points are lovely, especially when everything is covered in snow.
One of the biggest highlights was seeing the tiger 🐅🔥. The tiger enclosure is built into the rocks, and their “home” in the rocky landscape looks incredibly realistic — it really blends into the natural sandstone surroundings. Seeing such a powerful animal against the snowy, rocky backdrop made it feel even more dramatic and authentic. Definitely the standout moment of the visit!
However, winter does affect the overall experience. Many food outlets and smaller kiosks were closed 🍟🚫, which limited options for warming up or grabbing something quick. A lot of the animals were mainly inside due to the cold 🐾🏠, which is completely understandable, but it does mean you won’t see as much activity as you might in spring or summer.
The zoo being on a hill also means there are quite a few slopes and inclines ⛰️ — which normally wouldn’t be an issue — but with the snow, some paths hadn’t really been cleared properly and were slippery in places ⚠️🥶. Good footwear is definitely essential if visiting in winter.
Overall, it was still a good and very scenic experience, especially if you enjoy peaceful winter walks and beautiful surroundings ❄️🌲. But for seeing more animals outside and having all facilities open, a warmer season would probably offer a fuller experience 🌷☀️.
