点评:While visiting one attraction after another on my daily sight-seeing trips, I always enjoy taking a restful break at one of the many public parks that usually are situated along the way. Look Loose Park, the third largest park in Kansas City. Located at 51st Street and Wornall Road, the 75-acre property was the site of the Battle of Westport in the Civil War. A cannon marks the spot where Confederate General Sterling Price is said to have commanded his forces from gun emplacements on what was to become the south end of the park. In 1897, it became a golf course. Finally, in 1925, when the golf club moved to Mission Hills, it became a city park. A year later, Ella Loose bought the property so that it could be made into a park to honor her husband, Jacob Loose, who founded the Loose-wiles Biscuit Company. Today, Loose Park contains a lake, a shelter house, Civil War markers, tennis courts, a water park, picnic areas, a Rose Garden that hosts all manner of outdoor special events, theatrical performances and wedding ceremonies, and the Japanese Tea Room and Garden. The centerpiece of the park, the Japanese Tea Room and Garden is a small traditional Japanese garden conceived and dedicated in 2006 as a cultural exchange between the sister cities of Kansas City and Kurashiki, Japan.
