点评:My husband and I had a great one-hour tour led by Trucky. His knowledge of everything Everglades was truly impressive--alligators and other reptiles, birds, fish, insects, plants, geology, climate/weather, and history. He grew up in and still lives in the Everglades and his love and respect for the place and the wildlife was evident and inspiring. I'd expected to enjoy the experience--but it was even better than anticipated. Only sorry we didn't have time for a longer tour. We saw so many allligators including recently hatched ones (it's breeding season), and a remarkable variety of birds, fish, turtles, and wildflowers.
One thing to be aware of is that currently the water levels are very low--been an unusually dry spring. The grass lands are so dry that the airboats have to stick to the main channels. Nonetheless, I felt like we got a good taste of the various kinds of habitats and flora and fauna within the swamp (though I'd love to return some other time when the water is more plentiful). (Also, I'm guessing because of the water issue plus being in an airboat, the mosquitos were not a problem at all.)
